UPGRADING AN OLD ELECTRICAL PANEL IN RANCHLANDS, CALGARY
Project Overview
This electrical panel upgrade in Ranchlands, NW Calgary, was completed shortly after the homeowner purchased the property. The panel was original to the home and dated back to the 1980s. That made it nearly 40 years old, well past the typical 15 to 20 year lifespan of an electrical panel. With concerns about age and reliability, the homeowner contacted Panel Upgrade Experts along with two other contractors for estimates. Installation Details

Site Conditions and Challenges
The home had recently been cosmetically renovated, but the original panel was left untouched. During the site visit, the owner mentioned plans to expand a nearby room. To accommodate this, our team shifted the new panel slightly to center it in the smaller space. This ensured the panel fit neatly and would not interfere with future renovations.Electrical Work Completed
The project followed our standard two-part process. First, we arranged ENMAX for disconnection. Then, we replaced the panel on site. Our technician removed the old panel and mounted a new board designed to maximize wiring space. The new panel and board were installed within one hour of disconnection. This eliminated the need for multiple ENMAX visits and saved the customer money.After mounting, branch circuits were neatly dressed in, connected, and labeled. The City of Calgary inspector passed the installation without deficiencies and commented on the quality and neatness of the wiring.
