Site Conditions & Challenges
The existing panel was installed on the basement stairs — a location no longer permitted by the Canadian Electrical Code. The homeowners wanted the new panel in the basement, directly below the old location. This made for an efficient relocation, keeping the run short and minimizing disruption to the finished basement space.
Electrical Work Completed
The upgrade included both the new 100 amp panel and a complete service upgrade. A new service mast and meter base were installed, along with new conductors sized for 100 amps. Inside, a mounting board was set for the new panel, and new circuits were wired from the panel to the old location where splices were made to connect existing branch circuits. This staged approach kept the power on longer before final switchover.
Timeline
Most of the wiring and service work was completed on day one. On day two, our team finished testing, labeling the new panel, and checking a few outlets and lights for the homeowner. The project was finished on time with minimal disruption to the household.
